Civilization VII Lag Monitor

Civ7 Multiplayer Lag Monitor is a real-time diagnostic tool for Civilization VII multiplayer sessions. It reads the game's network logs and displays live stability metrics for every player, helping you identify who is causing lag or out-of-sync errors before they force a game reload.

This application reads Civilization VII log files stored locally on your computer. No data is collected, transmitted, or shared with any third party. All processing happens entirely on your device.

This is an unofficial fan-made tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Firaxis Games or 2K Games in any way. Civilization VII is a trademark of 2K Games.

This tool is provided free of charge and developed in good faith to help the Civ7 multiplayer community. While I do my best to keep it accurate and stable, I can't guarantee it will work perfectly in every situation. Use it at your own discretion.

Info Page

Visible to all players. Shows your machine's hardware diagnostics: CPU, RAM, GPU, connection type, power plan, and an overall PC rating for Civ7 multiplayer. Also detects mods, VPN, and high relay ping.

Players Page

Only visible to the host. Displays live stability metrics for all players in the session.

OOS — Out of Sync

The number of times a player's game state has diverged from the host. High OOS is the primary cause of mid-game restarts.

OOS hash — player's data drifted from the host (a value differs). Gradual desync: unstable connection or engine bugs.
OOS missing — an object exists on one side but not the other. Big sudden numbers = the player dropped at end-of-turn, or mods.
OOS dynamic — modifier desync (a subset of hash/missing). Mods somewhere in the session, or normal engine cascades at age transitions.
D/T — Duplicates per Turn

Duplicate packets per turn. >1.0 hints at connection jitter, but it's noisy early in a game — not reliable on its own.

Blinks

How many little hiccups this player had during the game, where things briefly froze for them and then caught back up. A few is totally normal; a lot usually means their internet isn't steady.

Desync

How many times this player's connection got so out of sync that it caused a reload.

Hotjoins

Reconnected mid-turn; predicts the 'stuck on previous turn' bug.

Timer forced

Turn ended by the host timer, not by the player (too slow).

Flaps

3+ reconnects within 15 minutes = a dying local connection.

Jitter

Spread of gaps between a player's packets, in seconds. Low = steady stream; >3s = choppy connection (WiFi, congestion). Often shows trouble before OOS or drops appear.

What we collect

This website does not actively collect any personal data. Standard server logs (including IP addresses) may be processed automatically by our hosting provider, Netlify, in accordance with their privacy policy.

Saved Players

If you enter player names and personal restrictions, drafter.games can remember them to speed up future drafts. Custom categories and their rules are saved the same way. This data is stored only in your own browser (localStorage) — it is never sent to or stored on any server, and it is not shared with anyone. You can view, edit, or delete saved players at any time from the "Saved players" screen, custom categories from the "Manage categories" screen, or everything at once by clearing your browser data.

Draft Sessions

When you create a draft session, a random session code is generated and stored temporarily in Firebase Realtime Database. Sessions contain only draft settings and player nicknames entered voluntarily by users. No account or registration is required.

Analytics

This website collects anonymous usage statistics (number of drafts created, draft settings used). This data contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify any individual.

Third-party Services

This website uses Firebase (Google) for real-time session data. Firebase may process data according to Google's privacy policy.
