Civilization VII Lag Monitor
Civ7 Multiplayer Lag Monitor is a real-time diagnostic tool for Civilization VII multiplayer sessions.
It reads the game's network logs and displays live stability metrics for every player,
helping you identify who is causing lag or out-of-sync errors before they force a game reload.
This application reads Civilization VII log files stored locally on your computer. No data is collected,
transmitted, or shared with any third party. All processing happens entirely on your device.
This is an unofficial fan-made tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with
Firaxis Games or 2K Games in any way. Civilization VII is a trademark of 2K Games.
This tool is provided free of charge and developed in good faith to help the Civ7 multiplayer community.
While I do my best to keep it accurate and stable, I can't guarantee it will work perfectly in every
situation. Use it at your own discretion.
Visible to all players. Shows your machine's hardware diagnostics: CPU, RAM, GPU, connection type, power plan, and an overall PC rating for Civ7 multiplayer. Also detects mods, VPN, and high relay ping.
Players Page
Only visible to the host. Displays live stability metrics for all players in the session.
OOS — Out of Sync
The number of times a player's game state has diverged from the host. High OOS is the primary cause of mid-game restarts.
OOS hash — object exists on both sides but values differ. Gradual drift, caused by unstable connection or engine bugs.
OOS missing — object exists on client but not on host. Sudden explosion after a disconnect at end-of-turn, or caused by mods.
OOS dynamic — missing sync on game modifiers specifically. May indicate mods are active somewhere in the session, or engine issues during age transitions.
D/T — Duplicates per Turn
Average redundant packets per turn. Under 1 is clean. Rising D/T signals an unstable connection — slower turns for everyone, and an early warning before OOS climbs.
Recon — Reconnects
Number of disconnects and rejoins. Each reconnect pauses the game. Note: lobby reconnects are counted too.
Desync
Times a player's snapshot was rejected during a reload. Non-zero means a corrupted game state at load time — can cause further instability.

What is a Joker?
A Joker is a placeholder card used when duplicates are disabled but there aren't enough unique civilizations or leaders to go around.
For example: if there are 11 civilizations, 6 players, and each player gets 2 civs — that requires 12 unique civs, but only 11 exist. Enable Joker Civs and one player receives a Joker as their missing civ slot, or enable Duplicate Civs to allow repeats.
A Joker slot means that player may pick freely from whatever remains, or treat it as a wildcard — however your group decides.
